Bad to Worse Hair Day
When a gust of wind from the west turns a calm moment into a spectacularly unruly hair day, this Red-breasted Merganser drake carries on, crest feathers fully animated by the breeze.
Behavior and Courtship Displays
Red-breasted Mergansers are agile swimmers and accomplished divers, often forming small flocks on open water where they pursue fish below the surface. During courtship, males perform animated head-pumping displays and brief chases, using both movement and posture to attract attention. (Source: Birdfact)
